Surf Gear Thefts in SF on June 28 and July 10, 2006

Two separate incidents of surf gear theft occurred in SF over the last couple of weeks…

Incident #1 occurred on June 28, 2006 in the Outer Sunset between midnight and 8:00 A.M. Two surfboards were stolen from a garage on Great Highway and Vicente:

  • Board #1: 6’ 8″ Five-fin Bonzer by Dawson; white, very distinctive look
  • Board #2: 8’ 6” South Point longboard; white

These boards were soon advertised (for $240) and sold on craigslist.

Incident #2 occurred the night of July 10, 2006 in Laurel Heights. The following gear was stolen from a van at Sacramento and Locust Streets:

  • Sector 9 Longboard (orange wheels)
  • Wipika Wakeskate (natural wood and clear grip tape)
  • Wipika MP138 Kiteboard (broken)
  • Jimmy Lewis Custom Kiteboard
  • Manfrotto Tripod
  • Black Wipika Kite Control bar, 20m lines
  • iPod cradle
  • Kaenon UPD black frame/rose lens sunglasses, and more.

The Jimmy Lewis kiteboard is described as “one of a kind and pretty obvious.”

Due to the smell left behind by the perpetrator, as reported by the victim, this incident was probably random and the perpetrator does not know much about what he/she had stolen.

If any of your surf comrades out there have any information about these thefts or the whereabouts of the stolen property (even if you’re the soul who bought stolen gear unknowingly), please contact SurfPulse and we will forward the information to the victims.
