Benefit Concert for Woody Brown Film in Larkspur on Tuesday, October 17, 2006

A benefit concert in support of the new documentary Of Wind and Waves: The Life of Woody Brown, followed by a screening of this film will take place at the Larkspur Cafe Theater, 500 Magnolia Ave, in Larkspur on Tuesday evening, October 17th.

Kate Gaffney, a singer-songwriter guitar player extraordinaire from Philadelphia, will start the evening off with a solo acoustic performance at 8:00 P.M. Check her website out at www.kategaffney.com to listen to some of her music. She will be opening a bunch of shows for Richie Havens in Northern California in a couple of weeks and has agreed to take a little detour to Larkspur to perform her music for us. She is a recent devotee to surfing along the shore of New Jersey (yes, there are plenty of waves there) and is looking forward to meeting fellow surfers on the West Coast. Woody Brown is a legendary surfer who pioneered the big waves of Hawaii during the late 1930's and 40's, designed the first catamaran, and, in 1937, established the world record for the longest solo flight in a glider plane that stood for many years thereafter. As you may recall, Woody was one of the featured surfers in the film Surfing for Life. He still lives on Maui and still going strong at 94. The movie will screen at 9:15 P.M.

For more information about this inspirational film, go to www.ofwindandwaves.com. Admission is just $12. Please pass this information on to anyone you know. If you have any questions, call Roy Earnest at 650-438-6378.
