Shark Sighting at Ocean Beach on Tuesday, September 25, 2007

On September 25, 2007 Edward McNulty was surfing atVFW’s at Ocean Beach in San Francisco at approximately 7:45 A.M. Herecounted: “Conditions were sloppy with a slight offshore breeze andclear, sunny skies. I was approximately 100 yards off shore. Twodolphins had swam south of my position a few minutes before. I waslooking out to sea as a wave crested underneath me and I saw a large, triangular, nearly stationary dorsal fin about 50 yards further outside.
With the rising sun it was illuminated beautifully. It had a very broadbase and was clearly not a dolphin’s. I have been surfing at OBregularly for years and have never seen anything like that. I instantlyturned and paddled inside. When I looked back and watched for severalminutes I did not see it again.”
