The contest window for the Maverick’s 2008 Surf Contest opens on Fri., Dec. 7th and closes on Mar. 31st, 2008. The 24 big wave surfers invited will be given a minimum 24-hour notice of the contest being held, and today there is a ceremonial paddle out from the beach at Maverick’s.
The contest window is starting a few weeks earlier this year due to predicted early season swells.
