Surf Travel Documentary Sliding Liberia in Palo Alto on Saturday, June 7, 2008

Join Surfrider San Mateo County Chapter at Patagonia Palo Alto as filmmakers Britton Caillouette and Nicholai Lidow present Sliding Liberia, a film (featured on page 41 of the Patagonia Surf 2008 catalog) that follows four young surfers to West Africa in search of more than perfect waves. Devastated by decades of civil war, Liberia is home to both great surf and some fascinating stories. Take Alfred's, for example, who becomes Liberia's first surfer after he finds a bodyboard while fleeing rebels. Besides recording some of those stories and rediscovering a break that could be the best-kept secret in the surfing world, the film reveals something more important--a way to travel responsibly in the 21st century.

This event is free. We'll be serving light refreshments.
