SurfPulse.com, the popular kelproots website for the NorCal surfing community, is looking for surfers who are skilled writers or cartoonists to contribute to our Features section.

The small SurfPulse staff is dedicated to serving the local surfing and ocean community by posting surf reports, news, events, and features of interest to the community. We do this for the love of the sport, the protection of our beaches, and the needs of our ocean-loving brethren.

All this to say—we can’t pay our contributors. What we do offer is a cool venue with a loyal readership for you to publish your surfing- and NorCal-related creative pieces, working with an editor who will help polish your already well-edited writing in preparation for publication.

We are looking for:

2–3 writers, who are surfers, to contribute on a regular basis (every 2-4 weeks).
1–2 cartoonists, who are surfers, to contribute on a regular basis (every 2 weeks).

We are also looking for writers who can only contribute a piece once in a while, or even just once.

Writing features may include interviews/profiles, surfing research, essays, short stories, book/movie/music reviews, etc., but all must relate to the Northern California locale (i.e., usually north of Santa Cruz (but as far south as Big Sur okay) and south of the Oregon border (with occasional forays into the Pacific Northwest acceptable)).

Cartoonists should focus the setting in NorCal, preferably San Francisco.
