I second Matt's nomination and ditto everything he said. Stormsurf is a first thing in the morning daily read. Everything is a progression and it's hard to imagine the "Pre-Sponsler" days already. Fantastic article...many thanks.

Mark Sponsler is the man. From Stormsurf I have become more interested in the surf, the weather, and big waves. I owe so many set waves to him, because of all the great days he has helped me score here in Norcal. The guy simply rules, plain and simple.

Thanks, Mike. By the way, I failed to compliment your article which was well researched, written, and enjoyable to read. I will buy you a beer when I run into you.

Hey Matt, your comment pretty much sums up in nutshell what motivated me to write the article on Sponsler. So well stated, in fact, that I think we should adopt it as the unofficial executive summary. Many thanks for reading it and taking the time to respond. Hope he takes you up on your offer.

As a fellow Cocoa Beach transplant and StormSurf follower since its inception, I nominate Mark for first ballot induction into the Surfing Hall of Fame. For his love of surf and his fellow surfers, this man provides his followers with free, accurate information that enables them to surf the best waves season to season while maintaining jobs, families, and relationships. Countless jobs have been saved and divorces avoided due to Mark's generousity. My standing offer to him is that he and his family eat and drink on me whenever and wherever we meet. Even so, there will be a debt remaining that can never be repaid. Thanks, Mark. Long life, best set waves, and good health to you always.

Thanks Mike, I thoroughly enjoyed the article: "Visceral” Surf Forecasting with Mark Sponsler. I thought it was a compelling portrayal of Sponsler & the Mavericks scene. You're an acute observer & adept at making the surfers come to life. The photos are awesome & there are a couple of very entertaining videos. Looking forward to your next feature. ed
