SF Surfrider is sponsoring a short-notice “JUNK: Plastic in the Ocean” meeting on Wed., May 27 from 5:00–9:00 PM.
This event is on short notice because the Algaltia Marine team (http://algalita.org/) is riding bikes from Canada to Mexico to raise awareness about plastic and this is when they will be in SF.
This group has some of the most compelling and decisive information about the Pacific Gyre available. They are headed by Charles Moore, the guy who discovered it! They will have actual plastic from the Gyre and we will have an interactive booth to compare it to plastic from OB and from g-land in Indo. It should be very interesting!
There is a planning meeting on Thursday at Liverpool Lil’s if you would like to help out. We are looking for wine/beer/snack donations if you have any contacts that you can leverage!
