Nava Young is making the rounds of the California coast and heads to Santa Cruz on Tues., 12/8 and San Francisco on Wed., 12/9. She’ll be playing music and celebrating the release of her new book, Surf Food—The Ultimate Surfers Cookbook. Nava will appear in Santa Cruz at Paradise Surf Shop (3960 Portola (x 41st Ave)) from 6:00–9:00 PM. In San Francisco, Nava will entertain at The Riptide (3639 Taraval (x 47th Ave.) Wet Wednesday on 12/9 from 9:00 PM to midnight.
On Fri., 12/11 (hey, Nava, where will you be hanging on 12/10 many SF boys (and gals) must wonder), Nava will walk down 47th Ave from The Riptide (oh, that’s where you’ll be all day Thursday!) to Aqua Surf Shop (1673 Haight St. at Cole St.)) to help out with their Holiday Shopping Night. More book signings and acoustic music from Nava, along with a jazz trio and a Santa gnome. That fun lasts from 6:00–9:00 PM.
Surf Food is a cool book to get for the holidays, with surfer biographies, plenty of photographs, and recipes from worldwide surfdom luminaries, such as Donald Takayama, Kelly Slater, Nat Young (Nava’s dad), Andy Irons, and Layne Beachley.
Nava has released her debut music EP, Salty Lullabys, and will compete in the 2010 Women’s Longboard World Circuit Tour.
