Surfrider just released this spot to increase awareness around plastic polluting our oceans. The five gyres in open ocean around the world are just the tip of the iceberg from what I’ve learned. When the plastics breakdown into smaller and smaller particles due to exposure to the sun, they are ingested by smaller and smaller creatures. Thereby invading the lowest levels of the food chain. Who knows how much plastic humans are now ingesting on a daily basis?
