THIS IS OUR BIGGEST FUNDRAISING EVENT OF THE YEAR. PLEASE HELP US GET THE WORD OUT…

The Waterbar in SF is hosting their annual Oysterfest event benefitting the Surfrider Foundation. Tickets are $30 and all ticket sales from this event are donated to the San Mateo County chapter.

Come join us Saturday, August 28th from 12-3pm on the scenic Embarcadero and enjoy panoramic views of the Bay and San Francisco skyline while you listen to live surf music by local band Drifting Sand. Participate in the hot sauce competition, shucking challenge, and slurping in style contest or just sit back and enjoy local brews from Anchor Brewing Company, Speakeasy and Lagunitas Brewing Company as well as wines from Napa Valley Vintners. Sample oysters from Drakes Bay Family Farms, Maison BeauSoleil, Nick’s Cove and others.

All this is included for just $30, and it is all goes to help us protect our oceans, waves and beaches.

Weave your way through the thugs and pit bulls of Upper Haight and find yourself at the Milk Bar (1840 Haight xStanyan, across from Amoeba Records), an ocean of electrofuzz waves, with live music by The Blue Moodys, The Reefriders, and The Twang Tens. DJ Surfer Spud to spin more surf tunes in between sets. Hear the stoke between 3:00 and 7:00 PM.

Local surf rock band Bag of Toys plays their BIGGEST show ever at one of our favorite SF venues, the Great American Music Hall, on Fri., Oct. 10th.

Bag of Toys show is opened by Pat Jordan Band & Dogman Joe.

San Francisco’s own surf band, Drifting Sand, opens up for the Beach Boys on Sun., July 22nd at Mountain Winery in Saratoga. Drifting Sand will be performing a rare, stripped-down, somewhat-acoustic set, and hits the stage at 7:30 P. M. sharp.

On Tuesday, October 24th, join Zuna Surf and Chronicle Books for a star-studded Inside Maverick’s and Photo/Stoner book release party and Surfrider SF Benefit at 111 Minna Gallery! Celebrate and throw a beer back with surf authors & luminaries Matt Warshaw, Doug Acton, Grant Washburn, Jeff Divine, Bruce Jenkins, Maverick’s surfers, and more.

Arrive early for seats! The night kicks off with a 7:00 P.M. slideshow by Surfer’s Journal’s Jeff Divine, showcasing Ron Stoner photos not published in Warshaw’s book. Stoner was a pioneering Surfer Magazine lensman who mysteriously disappeared in the ’70s and deemed dead. Then, catch Doug Acton and Grant Washburn’s fantastic new Maverick’s footage.

Afterwards, chill to live surf music by the HIWATTERS and DJ Shabadoo’s grooves.
